With nine 4-way teams and three Canopy Accuracy participants competing in this years VTPC champs, I'm sure all of those who were there this weekend are still recovering from the 35+C heat and early starts. With the comp kicking off at 6am on the Saturday, competition anxiety was in the air. Thankfully the weather gods were on our side and the forecasted showers were no where to be seen, meaning that all the jumps were completed by mid-afternoon on the Sunday. Unfortunately, there were a few glitches with the new judging system, which meant that scores weren't posted until after 5pm, when only a few people hung around to see where their teams placed. A big congratulations to Chuck Norris for winning Open and Skritch who came in a close 2nd. 4-Way Inter was taken by Interstate competitors Ayr-Monkeys, whilst 4-Waysted With Dan took out Gold for Victoria, narrowly beating out Load 4 by 3 points from the last round, and Quattro taking bronze. Official scores will be posted online soon.
So, League Grand Final is the coming up in March. Teams who are up for medal contention will be announced once the judges work out who's made it to the top 5. Only the the scores from the first 5 jumps at State Meet will go towards the tally for league. Again, if your team doesn't make it to the top 5, don't despair, you are welcomed to compete still as there is an encourage award up for grabs.
More updates, news and photos will be posted online shortly. Blue skies! |

With two rounds of league completed and the Vic Champs only weeks away, this year's league is churning out heavy competition! 4-Way Inter have 7 teams competing this year and so far, each round has seen a nail-biting finish for the top 4 teams, with most rounds resulting in 1 or 2 points differing between teams. Unlike last year, the weather-gods have been on our side and we're not been "weathered" out yet.
FF4E1 is now less than a month away and with plans in place to run a freefly training camp aimed at intermediate level freefliers for mid-year, its looking like we'll have plenty of events to keep us occupied for the first half of 2012.
4W4E1 ran at the end of September and it was a huge success with 6 teams competing for the day. A big thank you to our coaches who donated their time to help make this event happen; Craig Vaughan; Steph Vaughan; Carsten Boeving; James Boyle and; Talis Steele. Also a big thank you to the camera-flyers, Judge and Skydive Nagambie for hosting the event. |

Only days before our 4W4E1 kicks off and we're looking at a great day with 6 confirmed teams participating.
Last week, Relworkers held a winter social event with Barefoot Bowling at Fitzroy Bowling Club. A great turn out from people and whilst it was a bit too "fresh" to actually go barefoot, a great time was had by all. Drinks on the bar tab and a dozen games later, many of us went home without feeling the cold. Thank you to all of you who came along and a big thanks to Matt Hyland for organising the event. |

We're only 2 weeks away from our first social event on the calendar, Barefoot Bowling is running on Thursday 15th September at Fitzroy Bowls Club. Should be fun and entertaining to catch up with everyone whilst lobbing bowls and having a beer. Also coming up, is 4-way4every1. This year, due to tunnel trips, we'll be running a separate freefly event at a later date. 4W4E1 should be a good day with 3 rounds running on Saturday 24th September at Skydive Nagambie. Limited spots available at this stage, but register online to get in first. |

Update from the goings-on from Relworkers. First up, League Grand Final was held at Bridge Water on 12th Feb 2011. Well done to the follow teams for competing at this round. Winners were : Open - 1st) Death From Above 2nd) Don't Judge Me; Intermediate - 1st) Wookie 2nd) E-Wok and 3rd) Hugh Jorgans. Thank you to all the teams that participated throughout league 2010-11. Those teams that had a placing were presented and awarded medals and vouchers from our major sponsors, Cookie, NZ Aerosports and AirSuits at the Skydivers Ball, which was held at Yak Bar in Melbourne in April. Photos from this event are already up - check out the Photos/Videos page. Secondly, three teams from our intermediate league went on to compete at the Nationals in Sydney. A big well done to Wookie, who took out gold, narrowly beating a very consistent Sydney team. E-Wok finished 4th after competing Round 8 and 4-Speed weren't far behind, beating out a couple of the local Sydney teams. We are approaching the end of the 2010-11 term and our committee will be open to new members for the 2011-12 term as of 7th July. The Relworkers Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be taking place on Thursday 7th July in Melbourne (stay tuned for more details). We will be reviewing the club's performance for the 2010-11 term and then open the forum to our members to vote in representatives for the committee. We encourage that all of our current members (and potential new members), to come along to help vote in people that will help shape the club into something that stands for its members. Any interested parties should come along and put up a hand to help in our various events such as 4W4E1/FF4E1, League 2011/12, VTPC representation, and of course, the committee itself. So if you have a keen interest in organising or help in promoting the club and the sport, make sure you come along to the AGM! |

4-Way Training @ Nagambie We had a successful day of jumping with five 4-way teams getting through a range of jumps. Each team had a coach and a cameraman to their assistance, and along with great weather, we saw some great results from our jumpers. Teams were comprised of one coach, and 3 fun jumpers of all varying degree of experience. In addition, each jump increased with difficulty, with many jumpers performing their first successful block!
Along with the successes, carnage wasn't far behind, with lost grips, a funnel or two and some mis-communication. Check out the video for a brief look at the day's event. A big thank you to Michelle Hales for organising the event, the coaches who were kind enough to share their knowledge and experience, the camera-dudes, Skydive Nagambie and of course, the participants who signed up to make this a great event!
If you're interested in some 4-way training including VFS, check out the 4W4E1 event that is coming up... |
